Foot-and-mouth disease inspections and certification
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an extremely important state-controlled disease with economic implications. It affects cloven hooved animals like cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Animals should be inspected before an auction to ensure that they do not show any clinical signs of disease after which they can be certified. The owner is also responsible for ensuring that the animals have not originated from and FMD controlled zone and that no other animals on the farm show any signs of FMD.
